Book your wilderness sauna Session

How does it work?

Please book your sauna sessions here. Each sauna session will be 2 hours long to allow plenty of time for the sauna to heat up!

  1. Using the Sauna

    • To light the fire for the wood-burner, please use the instructions provided here.

    • Logs have been provided for you for the sauna.

    • Once the fire is lit, wait for the sauna to reach the desired temperature. Please allow approximately 45 minutes for the sauna to heat up to a comfortable temperature.

    • If the temperature inside the sauna exceeds 90 degrees Celsius, exit immediately for safety.

    • Please be careful not to keep loading up the wood burner during the session, as the sauna will get extremely hot very quickly.

    2. Safety Guidelines

    • Always check the temperature before entering the sauna.

    • Keep hydrated and take breaks as needed.

    • If you experience dizziness or discomfort, leave the sauna and cool down.

Please respect your booking time and vacate the sauna when finished.

Where is the sauna located?

The sauna is in a truly spectacular location on your left-hand side between huts 3 and 5. You’ll see a sign pointing to the sauna, just head in that direction and after a short walk over the moorland you’ll find it. There is no path so please wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven. There’s a map below to show the sauna’s location.

When can I use the sauna?

You are welcome to use the sauna once you’ve checked into Barwlyd and during your stay with us. Please note you are not able to book the sauna on the day of your check-out as we’ll need the buggy back for the next guest.

What to bring?

There is limited covered space to leave your personal belongings, but you’re not far from your hut. We recommend bringing:

  • Sturdy shoes for the walk to the sauna

  • Suitable swimwear

  • Bottle of water to stay hydrated

  • Towel for sitting on

Who can use the sauna?

Our sauna sessions are available to Barlwyd guests only, and you must be over the age of 18 to use the sauna.
